B Stepp

Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs

With a fierce heart for collective liberation, B’s work is guided by a profound commitment to wholeness, justice, and dignity for all life. Deeply believing in the power of healing, B accompanies those they work with on the path to restoring agency, choice, and connection. Through body-based, somatic work, they support clients in identifying what truly matters to them, gaining practicable skills to help align actions with values on both an individual and collective level.

B’s long experience inside of social justice movement offers a grounded and embodied understanding of trauma and oppression, including how our current and historical social context shapes what is possible in our lives. B fiercely contends that an embodied trauma analysis and practice are an essential piece of dismantling racial capitalism.

Inside of the large umbrella of politicized healing that serves movement, B is most excited about working with activists, organizers, and leaders of all kinds to move more boldly towards their longings in ways that are both joy-filled and rigorously create the ground for liberation on both an individual and collective scale. They hold that the body is a site of our dignity, of our belonging, and where we can take action towards our biggest dreams and visions from. In all the work they do, they support the folks they work with to come home to the life and liberation of their bodies.

B is mixed race with black and white ancestry. They identify as queer, femme, and nonbinary. They understand the complexities of identity and both the resilience and belonging that can be accessed through the affirmation of who we are, and the limitations that identity places on all that’s possible for our collective liberation. B works to embody an abolitionist politic and practice in regards to race and gender, acknowledging that the fixed identities that order our lives will only be undone when capitalism no longer exists.

When B is not doing healing work, they love to move their body in ways that bring them joy. They train in Muay Thai and love feeling the fierceness and aliveness this practice brings. Much of their time is spent nerding out on astrology and all the political economic theory and social justice movement analysis and history they can get their hands on. The close people in their life know that their greatest fear is not having time to read all of their books in this lifetime. They love their dog, June and their three cats dearly. The Puget Sound is their #1 source of resilience.

Credentials and Education: B is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Certified Nutritionist (CN) in the state of Washington. They hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College and a Masters of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology from Bastyr University. B pays great respects to their teachers across many lineages including Generative Somatics, social movements in the so-called u.s. and internationally, especially the traditions of Black Liberation, Western psychotherapy, astrology, and mindfulness practices. B has been training with Generative Somatics since 2010 and also has trained in other somatic methodologies such as EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

B is not currently taking new individual clients, but is excited about group offerings, trainings, workshops, and professional consultation for somatic  practitioners.
